TRW ATEC is an advanced material developed for all entry and medium level vehicle models in Asia Pacific. It is designed for customers whose requirements are value for money and good braking performance as well as comfortable and safe driving.
Components and features of a TRW ATEC brake pad:
- Backing plate: ATEC is fitted with high-quality steel backing plates which are powder coated according to TRW's OE standards to help protect against oxidation
- Friction Material: ATEC's advanced formulation ensures reliability and high performance at all temperatures (from ambient to 500°C) and pressures
- Scorching: Intense heating of the brake pad material to 600-700°C scorching which speeds up the bedding in process.
- Bonding: Premium heat-resistant adhesive compound for effective bonding during frequent braking.
- Shim: Fitted with a TRW designed phenolic shim which absorbs the vibrations that cause noise, virtually eliminating brake noise such as squeal.
- Wear Indicator: Fitted with a high quality wear indicator or sensor if one is supplied at OE.
- Slot and Chamfer: ATEC brake pads match OE designs that effectively eliminate vibration and noise.
Excellent Performance
TRW’s engineers do not release a new material into the market until it has undergone rigorous testing procedures, both in the laboratory, on test tracks and then on the road in field tests. The OE specified AK Master Test is used on both EU and Asian references to ensure the friction material is suitable for all vehicle types. The test results show that TRW’s advanced ATEC material provides consistent braking performance over a wide range of test conditions.

Less Noise
As with all TRW friction materials, TRW ATEC has very low noise occurrence. This is as a result of a superior friction formulation and the use of phenolic shims, which help to absorb the vibrations which cause noise.

State-of-the-art brake pad manufacturing
We understand the importance of friction material in front and rear brake pads. Making the friction material compound in-house allows us to find the perfect combination of raw materials from rubber to graphite, generating the safest brake pad performance across all conditions.
Our scorching techniques heat the pads to 600-700oC, which helps to reduce bedding-in time and initial fading. Automatic moulding presses allow us to use deep moulding technology, which produces a more consistent density and porosity. This will give drivers that leave the garage with our replacement brake pads fitted to their vehicles more comfortable journeys because it minimises the amount of judder and noise.
Pads verified and tested for excellence
Every element of our aftermarket brake pads is tested multiple times, including those crucial back plates, which carry the friction material. To prevent rust from developing on the back plate we use a powder coating, and the specialist design from TRW helps the brake pad to resist high shear strengths as well as hot temperatures.

Using a highly advanced heat plate scorching system rather than traditional flame scorching, we save energy and produce less CO2 emissions – a practice which is today an original equipment (OE) standard. TRW also introduced the first environmentally-friendly brake pad programme for passenger cars in Europe, which means we never use ingredients and materials like, lead, mercury, cadmium, antimony, brass or molybdenum.

- Items are shipped from either Sydney or Perth warehouses depending on your location and stock availability.
- We use various couriers to ensure speedy delivery, metro orders are generally delivered in 2 to 5 working days, for country and remote areas allow 4 to 8 working days.
- All items shipped have free transit insurance for loss or damage while in transit. However it is the buyers responsibilty to provide a safe and secure delivery address and once an item is deemed delivered by the courier - either with or without signature, the transit insurance coverage ends and we do not accept any further liablity for items lost or stolen after the items have been delivered to your address.
